​Problem Statement

Updating the FIM Portal, the installation fails and rolls back with no error message. 

Troubleshooting Action

Since we have no error message displayed to the end-user, we needed to obtain a Windows Installer Log to identify the problem. 

Error Message

 The object SPWebConfigFileChanges Name=WebConfigChanges - ee77e9b1-fc77-45cd-9f5a-af3e04cdf478 Parent=SPWebApplication Name=SharePoint - 80 is being updated by DOMAIN\FIMSPADMIN, in the Microsoft.IdentityManagement.SolutionPackUtility process, on machine SERVERFIM01.

SharePoint Configuration cache was corrupted
