DQS, introduced in SQL Server 2012, is a knowledge-driven application that lets you perform a variety of data quality operations such as cleansing, matching, and data profiling. The heart of DQS is the knowledge base that contains a set of data domains and their relevant metadata information that you build using DQS, and then use it for performing data quality operations. DQS also supports out-of-the-box cloud-based reference data for friction-free data quality operations in addition to configurable third-party reference data sources. DQS is a rapid, easy-to-deploy, easy-to-use data quality environment, and can be set up and used practically in minutes. DQS also integrates with other SQL Server features, such as Integration Services and Master Data Services, for an integrated easy-to-use cleansing and matching experience respectively. For more information about DQS, see DQS Documentation on MSDN.
