When trying to add animated GIF images in the TechNet articles, it looks like the GIF motion is disabled.

Many people have tried many ways but nothing worked out.

When you try adding a GIF from the image options in the online editor, it didn't work.

From the Wiki forum, Richard Mueller

This is the sample HTML that did not work:

<a href=""><img style="border-width: 0px; border-style: solid;" alt="" src=""></a>

Please note the height attribute missing.

And here is the revised HTML that does work:

<a href=""><img style="border-width: 0px; border-style: solid; width: 550px;" alt="" src=""></a>

My guess is that the Wiki platform revised your image for you and broke it (note "__size/550x0" in the image properties in the HTML).

When you specified height, eg via the image style options, it should work.

Tips & Tricks

  • use Word as HTML editor.

  • use an offline, genuine HTML editor

Animation Blocked

Very likely, when adding an animated gif via the "Insert Image" option from the online editor, you'll see the animated gif is frozen.
