I am currently using an Acer Aspire touch laptop with Windows 8.1. It has an intel core i3 processor with 1.8 ghz of memory and has hyperthreading, as well as the Intel HD Graphics 4000 card which has 2 GB of video memory if I am not mistaken. I am using 4 GB of ReadyBoost on an SD card and 4 GB of ram. The light gaming I am doing is sporadic and usually play with mid-low graphics quality. My games run perfectly well... until I get the low memory error and Windows 8.1 asks me to shut my game down.
According to the research I've made (I'm not a dumbass at computers either), this is a recurring problem with gamers. I've seen problems at places like the World of Warcraft forums where people with even better specs than mine have Windows 8.1 and have the exact same issue. My computer meets the minimum requirements for most of my games, so I wish to know if this is a known issue... which I'm sure it isn't since this is Microsoft we're talking about. My games are being frequently interrupted by YOUR terrible coding. It even happened with Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection- and that game isn't even that big nor memory consuming. What gives? When will there be an update for this issue?
Please download RAMMap and run it when you have the high Memory usage issue. Now save the data as a RMP file. Zip the RMP file and upload the zip to your SkyDrive and post a link here.
If you see a high paged pool memory usage, use poolmon , to see which driver is the cause.

The times I played a few games again to see if I got the error, well, I didn't get it. Way to make me look bad, Acer. But I did check Event Viewer after some digging and found something interesting: this is apparently a low virtual memory situation, as the events that my games got the low memory warning were documented, and when I checked the details it said that Windows successfully diagnosed a low virtual memory situation, followed by the apps that caused it, including the Steam client (program that handles games bought digitally via the Steam store) and the games. I have saved the text dump of said errors along with a dxdiag file that shows my computer's specs for more information. Links are below in my SkyDrive.
I hope it helps. If I get the error again between tonight and tomorrow I will post the requested info as soon as I can.
My firewall. I knew it. I'll have to get another firewall and antivirus solution that isn't as harsh on my CPU usage. Will increasing virtual memory paging help? I heard that increasing the cache size is a viable alternative. Should I do it? Going by my specs, to how much I should increase it? By the way, I am also using 4 GB of ReadyBoost on an SDHC card since the laptop has 4 GB of ram.
Sorry for my dilatory reply. In my opinion, if this problem caused by these program occupation, firstly you can try to check this game compatibility with Windows 8.1.
In addition, of course you can try to add virtual memory to fix this problem.
