I configured Windows Media Services once back when Windows Server 2003 was around. The company I work for wants me to implement a streaming solution that allows us to require usernames and passwords to view videos. How is this accomplished in Streaming Media
Services? Is there a way to have just a text file with the usernames and passwords and have the authentication happen based of that?
For any version of Windows Media Services (9.0, 9.5, 2008, 2008 R2) authentication is handled the same way. Setup accounts in Windows and then use the
WMS Negotiate Authentication plug-in. This is located under either the server or publishing point level / Properties tab / Authentication.
