We have our Symantec backup server running on windows server 2008 R2 SP1 on x.com domain and the servers which we backup are on different domain(y.com).
when we try to browse the y.com domain servers on the backup server we don't see anything and the symantec tech says
you need to have trust relationship between the domains and the user account who is trying to take backup should have all the proper security credentials between two domains.
How to check the trust relationship between two domains ?
how to check whether the particular user account has all the required permisssions?
Would you please let us know are these two domains located in one forest or different forests?
Based on my research, we can use
Active Directory Domains and Trusts MMC Snap-in, Active Directory Users and Computers MMC Snap-in and
NLTEST command line Tool to determine the trust relationship.
I suggest you run
nltest/sc_query <domain name> command from an
elevated command prompt to verify the trust relationship.
To run an elevated command prompt, please perform the following steps:
As for checking a particular user’s permissions,
AccessEnum and AccessChk tools would be useful.
